VARIOUS PROCESS OF FILTRATION

Coagulation
The water is mixed with a metered dose of aluminum sulphate (alum), which helps in the coagulation of unwanted material. As the water is restored to the best possible condition the process continues for a full turnover of the pool water before it is stopped.

Coarse Straining
This process is used to remove floating particles such as hair ,etc. from the swimming pool water.

Filtration
This process is used to filter the pool water. The water is passed through the Pressure sand filter for removal of the fine floating particles & dirt still remaining in the water after coarse straining.

Chlorination
This process is used to clean and oxidize the organic matter which still remain in the water. Chlorine is the most efficient and reliable agent for sterilizing the pool water. A residual chlorine of 0.2 to 0.5 p.p.m. makes the water safe and fit for Swimming.

Ionization
Pool Ionization, already in use in some commercial/public swimming pools represents an environmentally preferable alternative to the traditionally heavy use of chlorine and other chemicals. Ionization as it is applied to swimming pools, is the process of using a low voltage current to disperse positively charged copper and silver ions into the water.

Since bacteria are negatively charged, these particles are attracted to the ions and are killed off as the charge penetrates the cell walls. The destroyed micro-organisms clump together and are easily removed by the pool filter. Small amounts of chlorine are still needed with this method, but at levels typically 80% less than conventional pool systems.

Ozonation
Ozone is an extremely active form of oxygen found in nature. Lightning is nature's ozone generator with each flash generating a massive amount of ozone. After a lightning storm you'll often notice a clean smell. That's the cleansing effect of ozone! Ozonation will oxidize oils and other contaminants in swimming pools and spa water and organic chemicals into safer elements. During the ozonation process, some compounds like ammonia and cyanide are broken down into nitrogen and water or other safe compounds. In all reactions, the main by-product after oxidation is oxygen. Ozonation does not change the pH, nor does it react with the remaining organic in water to produce carcinogenic compounds.

Ph. Correction
The addition of alkali solutions like Caustic Soda or Soda Ash is necessary for correcting the acidity in the water mainly caused by chlorine. When Sodium or Calcium Hypo chlorides or bleaching powder is used for chlorination, the PH. correction process may not be required.

Algae Control
This is a process, which minimizes and eliminates the growth of Algae. Here if the PH value is maintained in the range of 7.2 to 7.8 p.p.m. the need for the application of algaecides or copper sulphate is eliminated.

Circulation
The best way to maintain the circulation of water is to have an efficient distribution system; a system which avoids short circuiting of the pool water and quick removal of all the dirt and floating particles from the surface. The best possible way to maintain the pool circulation and best water condition is to adopt 'Surflo’ method of systems; i.e. letting the water at the bottom floor and bringing the polluted water from above through overflow collecting channel.

SWIMMING POOLS

Millions of people in many countries enjoy the fun and recreation provided by swimming pools. Swimming is also extremely good for health and well-being.

Types of Swimming Pools

There are many types of pools but the two main kinds are the in-ground and the above-ground pools. The in-ground pools are pools in which the water is below the surface of the ground. The above ground pools are pools in which the water is above the surface of the ground.

Equipment & The Need
All pools should have the basic equipments, which Include a filtration plant , pump sets, skimmer /scum gutter (overflow channel), an effective chemical dosing system and other accessories.

An efficient water purification and circulation plant provides good, clean water for the swimmers and ensures their good health. This makes the swimming pool more popular with the users.

The Benefits
With an efficient and continuous water purification system in place the existing water can be used continuously over a long period of time. It not only saves wastage of water but is also cost effective in the long run.
